Route description:

The Tour Ronde stands out amongst the peaks in the Vallee Blanche, with it's North Face plainly visible from the Chamonix side and Aiguille du Midi.

There are many routes to the summit, including the North Face and other harder mixed/ice routes.

The East arete from the Col Freshfield offers an interesting and varied route, including steep snow/ice and airy rock arêtes.

Its a great training climb for other longer routes as some of the difficulties can be bypassed on the south side, depending on time and motivation.

Sticking to the crest offers the best climbing though, on solid rock in spectacular and exposed situations.

It is best to return along the route of ascent, both for training and to avoid the potentially rock fall prone east face.

For fast teams it would be possible to climb the route in a day from the SkyWay lift, but an early start from the Torino refuge is probably best.

Snow on the route makes it much harder. Look for dry conditions, the initial slope can also get icy.
