Route:
JungFrau - 4158m
Category:
Mountaineering
Route description:
The final peak in the Grindelwald trio of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. The Jungfrau has an interesting "normal" route which weaves around the peak seeking a safe and logical line with difficulites encountered on rock, glacier and steep snow.
Many of the rock scrambling sections are protected by fixed gear or stakes allowing teams to move quickly in both ascent and descent. In icy conditions some sections can be delicate and insecure. An early start is a good idea to allow a descent of the mountain before the snow softens up.
This is classic alpinism at it's finest, with an ascetic climb and an inspiring panorama of peaks to view from the summit.
